The Exciting World of the Totally Free (Love + Radio)
This podcast is about travel writer Paulette Cooper and how she wrote a massive story back in the 70's about a religious group referred to as scientologists.  This group was almost like a cult and to say the least, they were not happy with her piece of journalism that put questions and doubts in peoples minds about their intentions.  The podcast goes on to tell of how scientologists framed Cooper into making it appear that she was writing them bomb threats (which was considered an act of terrorism and therefore involved government officials) and how she proved herself innocent by taking a truth serum test.  This podcast was done in an interview style where I can imagine the interviewers and Paulette sitting in a room together and chatting.  I would assume the interview was filmed either in her house or a studio setting due to the lack of background noise.  For my podcast I am definitely thinking about doing it interview style, so this was an excellent model for me.  Something that really worked well for this podcast was the transitions.  Most of the times the transitions were made by the interviewer's questions or a change in music.  I liked how not all of the questions the interviewers were asking were including in the podcast, it seemed to just be the ones that aided in moving the story along in a way where the listeners could follow.   A tip I picked up on was that this podcast used audio rolls pertaining to what Cooper was discussing in the background.  For example, when Paulette was explaining what scientology was and listing off their beliefs, in the background there were people's voices (scientologists) saying these things to people in the streets.  Another instance where this same trick was used was when the Paulette was telling of the supposed bomb threats she sent, the background was playing a news reporter's voice reading off headlines pertaining to the threats.  I thought this was a really nice touch and enhanced the story telling.  It made the listener feel as if they were there at times.  This technique was used throughout the podcast and is something that I will consider when creating my own podcast.

The Jesse Eisenberg Effect (The Truth)
This podcast is about a boy named Jesse Eisenberg who is a big basketball fan and whose favorite team is the Phoenix Suns.  He was being bullied in school so he wrote a letter to his idol player of the Phoenix Suns asking him to come to his school in hopes of helping him put an end to his bullying. A couple days after he sent the letter the NBA finals were happening.  The two teams were the Chicago Bulls and the Phoenix Suns.  The Suns ended up losing the finals and Eisenberg thought that it was because of his stupid letter he sent.  The story was written by Jesse Eisenberg himself but produced by another person.  I would assume the audio was obtained by these two sitting down in a casual setting and Eisenberg telling the producer this story.  This podcast is more along the lines of being non-fiction storytelling.  This is another approach I was thinking about for my podcast, telling a personal story.  A nice touch this podcast had was in the opening it was Eisenberg's voice walking the listeners through the NBA finals play by play.  There were crowds cheering in the background, along with buzzer noises, and sports announcers voicing the plays.  It felt like the listeners were in the stadium during the finals and could really feel the disappointment of the  Phoenix Suns when they lost.  Something cool this podcast did was at times when Eisenberg was talking about him being bullied or when he discussed how the player he sent his letter to reacted, there were mini skits pertaining to the topics. These skits were done by different people voicing the characters and were in conversation form.  I really liked that aspect of the podcast because it added some humor to the already light topic and added variation in the podcast instead of Eisenberg just explaining those situations to the listener.  It was a nice touch and was the main thing I enjoyed most about the podcast.

Bill Burr's- The Comedian's Comedian (The Tim Ferriss Show)
This podcast is about comedian Bill Burr and how he became a stand up comedian.  It also discusses how he chose his comedic style, got over stage fright, and even delves a little into his past before being a comedian.  It talks about hardships he has faced and how he overcame them and how he uses comedy as a creative outlet.  The podcast is interview style but very conversational.  While the interviewer asks questions a lot of times it feels as if the interviewer and interviewee are best friends and we are just listening to a conversation they are having about life.  I think this was filmed in a studio with a live studio audience because there are reactions in the background like laughter, gasps, etc.  I really enjoyed the whole format of this podcast.  It felt genuine and not to mention extremely hilarious. I thought that I would get bored with it at some point because there wasn't much to it stylistically compared to the other podcasts I listened to, but the personalities of both the interviewer and interviewee kept it lively and not dull at all.  I think that if I were to do my podcast in a similar way (being very conversational) the subject would matter.  I can't see myself enjoying this much back and forth banter if the topic was more serious.  For example, if the podcast was about an eating disorder or something along those lines that is a heavier topic, I don't think this format would work.  For this podcast in particular it worked extremely well and was my favorite aspect of the podcast.
